Our Story

The story behind Cornwall Festivals, the independent, ad-free guide to every festival across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, built by G&V LABS. What counts and how it started.

Our Story

Cornwall Festivals is the independent guide to festivals across Cornwall, including the Isles of Scilly. One place to find what is on, from world-famous music weekends and ancient Celtic customs to village feasts and harbour lights. All of it, all year round, in one calendar. No ads, no pop-ups, no paid partnerships.

How it started

Cornwall Festivals grew out of Bristol Festivals. That guide began years ago with a domain and a good intention, then sat quietly until G&V, our agency, grew smaller, sharper and better placed to spend time on its own brands and passion projects.

Once Bristol was live, the next region was obvious. Few counties have a festival culture as deep or as distinctive as Cornwall's, but finding it meant piecing together council pages, social media events and posters in shop windows. So we built the same thing for the Duchy, alongside its sister guides for Devon and Somerset.

What we cover

Every kind of festival Cornwall holds: music and folk, food, drink and seafood, literature, film, arts and classical, the Celtic calendar customs, carnivals and regattas, Pride, and the winter lights. Free festivals and ticketed ones. World-famous names like Boardmasters and the Eden Sessions sit alongside small-village traditions. If it is a festival in Cornwall or on the Isles of Scilly, we want it here.

Cornwall Festivals is independent and free to use, built and run by G&V LABS as a passion project, alongside its sister guides for Bristol, Devon and Somerset. The aim is simple: the most complete, most useful picture of what is happening across the county, kept current so you can actually plan around it.

The principle has not changed since day one. No ads. No pop-ups. No paid partnerships. Just an independent, genuinely useful guide to the festivals happening across Cornwall.

Why Cornwall

Cornwall is a festival county like few others, with a Celtic identity it wears proudly. St Piran's Day is a national day in all but name, the Padstow 'Obby 'Oss and Helston Flora Day are among the oldest surviving customs in Britain, and the midsummer and midwinter fires of Golowan and Montol light up Penzance. Add a coast made for music, surf and seafood, and the calendar barely pauses.

But it is spread across a long, thin county and out to the Isles of Scilly. Visitors planning a trip deserve to know what is on the week they arrive, and people who live here deserve a single place that reflects the whole picture, not just the headliner.

What counts as a Cornwall festival

Any festival held within the ceremonial county of Cornwall, including the Isles of Scilly: the TR postcode area and the Cornwall side of the PL postcode area in the east of the county.

You have to draw the line somewhere, and the county is the fair one. It is clear and consistent rather than a matter of opinion, so there is no debating whether somewhere is "Cornish enough".
